Job summary

SMU seeks a Catalog Editor to lead the development and publication of the university’s annual academic catalog. You will collaborate with schools, departments, and offices to ensure accurate, current, and standards-aligned content.

You will manage the catalog production cycle, coordinate committees, and oversee content in the catalog management system, delivering a high-quality publication that supports student success and institutional excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's is required.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in writing and editing is required.
• Administrative experience in a college or university is also required.
• Experience editing academic publications is preferred.
• Experience with desktop publishing platforms and ability to learn new software is preferred.
• Experience using course scheduling, curriculum changes, and online catalog systems (Coursedog) will be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the annual academic catalog production cycle, including deadlines and submission/review processes.
• Oversee development, editing, and production of the catalog content across schools and offices.
• Coordinate the Catalog Advisory Committee schedules, agendas, and recommendations.
• Utilize Coursedog Curriculum Management and Catalog modules to manage, review, edit, and publish content.
• Ensure catalog content is accurate, current, and compliant with editorial standards.
• Review and maintain course descriptions and catalog content for consistency across systems.
• Conduct quality assurance and final reviews of catalog information.
