Job summary

The Disability Access Center at Sacramento State is hiring an hourly interpreter to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across classrooms, labs, and academic activities on the Sacramento State campus. The role requires interpreting for assigned courses and meetings, with potential limited mobility assistance for Deaf-Blind students, and is based on-site with variable hours.

Candidates should have an interpreting credential and experience in higher education settings; familiarity with RID

Qualifications

• AA degree in Interpreting Preparation Program or equivalent.
• Knowledge of ASL, Signed English, and/or manual codes.
• Extensive experience in educational interpreting in university level.
• Ability to interpret in classroom, lecture, lab, field trips, meetings; mobility assistance for Deaf-Blind students.
• Ability to perform in interactive settings with interpreters and real-time captioners.
• Commitment to a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for Deaf, Hard of Hearing students in classrooms, lectures, labs, and meetings.
• Provide limited mobility assistance for Deaf-Blind students, if needed.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure access to instructional content.
• Work with interpreters and captioners in a variety of settings and subject matter.
