Qualifications

  • Education: High School or equivalent required; Completion of accredited interpreter training program required.
  • Experience: 3+ years relevant experience required.
  • Licensure: National certification as an ASL-English interpreter (RID, NIC, BEI, or equivalent certification).

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality ASL/English interpreting services for complex content in academic and professional settings.
  • Interpret accurately conveying meaning, intent, tone, and register for full access.
  • Develop familiarity with courses and subject matter through prep and collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Review course materials and terminology to ensure accurate service delivery.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and interpreters to support communication access.
  • Adhere to professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain interpreting competency.
  • Be flexible and professional in a university environment, including occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative campus community.
  • Support SDAC/SHW teams in meetings and events as assigned.
