The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a qualified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to join our full-time school-based team in Charlottesville, VA. You will provide sign language interpretation for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students during classroom instruction and activities.

The ideal candidate is fluent in ASL and English, holds EIPA 3.5+ or VQAS Level III+, and has experience in educational settings.

Qualifikationen

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
• EIPA score 3.5 or higher or VQAS Level III or higher.
• Prior experience interpreting in educational settings preferred.
• Experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional standards.

Aufgaben

• Provide sign language interpretation for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing during classroom instruction and school activities
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, peers, and families as appropriate
• Interpret lectures, discussions, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Support students' access to academic content while promoting independence and self-advocacy
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
• Adhere to professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and district policies
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities as needed
