Georgia State University’s College of Arts and Sciences is seeking an Academic Advisor II to support degree planning, course substitutions, and advisement events on the Atlanta Campus.
The role requires strong data skills and experience with Banner, Navigate, Degree Works, and related tools, as well as mentoring responsibilities and excellent communication with students and staff.

The ideal candidate for this position will l perform all duties of a full-service professional academic advisor, including facilitating academic program development, advising students, and interpreting and implementing university policies and procedures. They will provide administrative support to department undergraduate directors for course substitutions, petitions, and permissions, and support advisement-related events and data needs from Navigate. Additionally, the Academic Advisor II will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Banner, and have experience with programs such as Argos, Degree Works, and Navigate.
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Academic Advisor II are the following:
Evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements.
Monitors student registration, academic performance, and progress.
Communicates with students about course scheduling, requirements, and resources. Tracks retention, progression, and graduation of students.
Provides administrative support for course substitutions, petitions, and permissions. Processes registration permissions in Banner.
Supports advisement events and data needs.
Mentors and trains staff; coordinates advisement training and special programs.
Other duties assigned.
