Organizational Summary:

The USF College of Arts and Sciences is committed to excellence across the liberal arts and sciences. Position Summary:

This is a professional non-instructional advising position supporting both an academic department and the College of Arts and Sciences on the Tampa campus. The position reports directly to the College of Arts & Sciences Director or Assistant Director of Advising, with a dotted line to the department Chair or Chair Designee. Advisors will represent the college, department, and USF advising in various public forums with professionalism and a caring attitude. The role involves a demanding administrative workload requiring strong computer, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as high-level human relational and communication skills due to frequent personal interactions with students.

Additional Information for Applicants:

The selected candidate must have current work authorization in the United States. This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

Hybrid Schedule: Onboarding and training will be on-campus. There is an option for a hybrid schedule after successful onboarding.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, with at least one year of advising or related experience in higher education. Work experience cannot substitute for the degree requirement. A criminal history background check (Level 1) is required.

50% Time - Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to students on degree requirements, class selection, policies, procedures, and campus resources through various communication methods.
  • Assist students with identifying long-term goals and career plans, helping them meet graduation requirements and prepare for future aspirations.
  • Support student well-being and retention by offering holistic support to navigate challenges and achieve goals.

45% Time - Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed advising notes and graduation plans aligned with CAS standards.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as responding to emails, processing permits, and managing enrollment requests.
  • Support the CAS Advising team and coordinate with USF stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate assistance for students.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and professional development to stay informed and effective.
  • Utilize digital skills to implement interventions supporting student persistence and success.

5% Time - Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
