The College of Arts and Sciences University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking an Academic Advisor to assist current and prospective students with academic planning via in-person, drop-in, appointment, phone and email.
You will support exploration of majors and careers and help students find internships, research, and leadership experiences while engaging in inclusive advising and collaboration with campus partners.

Advise current and prospective students in one or more majors in the College of Arts and Sciences on academic program planning in person through drop-ins and appointments, and by phone and email. Participate in recruitment and retention efforts, including New Student Enrollment. Encourage overall well-being and adjustment to the University as well as exploration of interests as they relate to majors and careers. Assist students in identifying quality real-world experience through internships, research, education abroad, service, and leadership.

Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years demonstrated experience working with students in 1:1 or group advising settings; Master’s degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience. Experience must demonstrate an ability to learn and stay current on complex academic requirements, policies, and procedures. Demonstrated experience working with varied student populations in order to apply inclusive advising strategies. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment. Ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Demonstrated competency with common office software programs and ability to use a variety of technology platforms.
Master’s degree preferred. Experience with college/ university-level students. Experience with academic and/or social support for first-generation, low-income, and/or minority college students. A background in liberal arts and sciences is desirable. Understanding of student records, admissions, retention, and graduation requirements. Ability to develop and deliver programs and presentations. Experience using advising software programs and/or student information systems.
