Chattahoochee Technical College seeks an Academic Advisement Coordinator to coordinate campus-wide advising services across all campuses. You will guide academic progress, collaborate with faculty, and ensure compliance with college policies.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree with 3+ years in advising or student affairs; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Telework up to 50% is possible with day shifts and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of related experience; substitution allowed year-for-year.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Advising experience, preferably in a college setting.
  • One to three years’ experience in Academic and/or Student Affairs.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Resides in one of Chattahoochee Technical College’s service area counties.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operation of advising; create an interactive environment for advisers’ growth.
  • Provide direct academic advising to students; collaborate with faculty on student progress.
  • Prepare and maintain budget; ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and college policies.
  • Attend meetings and participate in college committees; collect and maintain data for assessment.

After initial screening, additional documentation may be requested.POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for coordinating and performing student advising services for all campuses of Chattahoochee Technical College.MAJOR DUTIES:ADMINISTRATIONCoordinates and oversees the day-to-day operation of advising while creating an interactive and participatory environment leading to the professional growth and development of all academic advisors.Coordinates with associate dean and faculty in program areas to support advisement.Prepares and maintains the annual budget.Enforces state and federal regulations, TCSG guidelines, SACS regulations, and college policies and procedures.Delivers required business results; sets and achieves achievable, yet aggressive, goals; complies with quality standards and meets deadlines; maintains focus on College and Department goals.INTERPERSONAL ROLEEnsures that students are aware of options, requirements, policies and procedures of the institution.Coordinates campus-wide academic advising with other units of the CollegeAs necessary, provides direct academic advising to students; collaborates with faculty on student progressProvides specialized academic support for students who are not meeting Academic Standards.Accepts full responsibility for self and contribution as a team member; displays honesty and truthfulness; confronts problems quickly; displays a strong commitment to organizational success and inspires others to commit to goals; demonstrates a commitment to delivering on his/her public duty and presenting oneself as a credible representative of the College and Department, to maintain the public’s trust.Maintains professional and effective relationships with students, faculty, administration and staff in order to assist students with the various aspects of registration, curriculum requirements, etc.Cooperates with others to accomplish common goals; works with employees within and across his/her department to achieve shared goals; treats others with dignity and respect and maintains a friendly demeanor; values the contributions of others.Analyzes problems by evaluating available information and resources; develops effective, viable solutions to problems which can help drive the effectiveness of the department and/or Technical College System of Georgia.OTHERMaintains a timely awareness of changes in college and departmental policy; disseminates information to department professionals.Attends meetings and training sessions as required to maintain knowledge of advances in the field.Oversees special projects based on department/college initiatives.Collects and maintains data for assessment purposes.Serves on college committees as assigned.Performs other related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associate’s Degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and three (3) years of related experience.Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.Advising experience, preferably in a college setting.One to three years’ experience in Academic and/or Student Affairs.Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems.Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.Resides in one of Chattahoochee Technical College’s service area counties.SALARY/BENEFITS: $51,373.38 annually. Benefits include paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
