Job summary

NC State University’s Department of Clinical Sciences seeks a detail-oriented Accountant to manage budgets, analyze financial data, and ensure compliance across multiple funds. The role supports faculty, staff, and leadership with financial reporting and procurement processes.

The position is in-office (8am–5pm, Mon–Fri) in Raleigh, NC, with no remote option. A Bachelor’s degree with accounting coursework or related degrees is required, plus strong analytical and communication skills to navigate

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of accounting and budgetary principles, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and prepare accurate reports.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage departmental budgets across state, trust, foundation, gift, grant, and service center funds.
• Reconcile financial accounts, monitor expenditures, and prepare financial reports for decision-making.
• Coordinate project setup, year-end closeout, and compliance with university/state requirements.
• Process and approve financial transactions including journal vouchers and salary funding changes.
• Support leadership with accurate financial records and resource stewardship.
• Assist with grant financial management and closeout activities.
• Review travel authorizations and reimbursements for compliance and funding availability.
