Job summary

Atlanta Gas Light is seeking an entry-level crew member to support field operations, including deactivation of service, meter reads, and corrosion inspections. You will work with a crew to install, maintain, and repair gas mains and service lines, using basic tools and equipment while following safety practices.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, basic tool knowledge, and a valid driver's license. The role emphasizes reliability, safety awareness, and teamwork in a demanding utility

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required and technical training is a plus.
• Proficiency in basic hand tools and equipment use.
• Ability to pass basic skills and knowledge assessments.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently completes routes for customer and compliance orders per policies.
• Observes safety/regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.
• Captures documentation in Mobile Data Terminal and notes abnormal conditions.
• Assists in connecting/disconnecting gas service and turning meters on/off.
• Performs meter reads, ERT installations and programming.
• Supports distribution activities: digging, shoring, leaks, and pipe testing.
• Responds to customer questions and provides referrals as needed.
• Operates dispatch systems for meter reads and service turn-offs.
