Job summary

City of Fulton is seeking a gas distribution apprentice to work under a pipefitter, supporting construction and maintenance of the city’s gas system. The role requires completing a high school diploma or equivalent and meeting CDL prerequisites within specified timelines.

The position involves safety-focused fieldwork, various shifts, and potential weekend work, with opportunities for overtime and professional growth through an apprenticeship program in a municipal setting.

Qualifications

• Completed high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass pre-employment drug testing and periodic testing as required by law.
• May be required to work weekends or varying shifts.
• Subject to emergency call-in. Driver's license, CDL (A or B), or must take and pass the written CDL exam within 90 days of hire; class B CDL within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction and maintenance of the city's gas distribution system.
• Aid pipefitting duties under supervision and ensure DOT/PSC regulations compliance.
• Assist mapping with locates as needed and support other departments.
• Participate in on-call rotation after apprenticeship completion.
• Complete required trainings and certifications; maintain necessary safety and operational certifications.
