Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking an Automation Engineer for ABB Robotics & PLC Systems Integration in Wisconsin. Onsite role in Waukesha County with up to 30% travel domestically and internationally.

Base salary up to $120,000 plus comprehensive benefits, including health and retirement plans. The role focuses on ground-up machine builds, RAPID programming, RobotStudio simulations, and AB/Rockwell PLC integration, with strict travel and commute requirements to support client deployments and site

Qualifications

• 5+ years of ABB robots programming, including RAPID & RobotStudio
• 2+ years of PLC development with ladder logic (Allen-Bradley/ Rockwell Studio 5000)
• Solid foundation in configuring motion control, vision-guided systems, and safety networks
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field (hands-on experience can substitute)
• Willingness to travel up to 30% worldwide with valid U.S. Passport
• Residence within a 45-minute commute of Waukesha County/Greater Milwaukee

Responsibilities

• Write, simulate, and optimize ABB RAPID code and RobotStudio simulations
• Lead full-lifecycle custom machine projects from design to on-floor debugging
• Configure electrical communications, fieldbus protocols, and EOAT
• Troubleshoot pathing, cycle-time, and control-logic issues on build floor and in the field
• Lead client onsite deployments, SAT, and customer sign-offs
• Generate system-logic documentation and electrical schematics
