ETTA in Los Angeles is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a nonverbal autistic student in the Los Angeles area through daily living services. The role requires compassionate communication, patience, and a willingness to learn AAC while collaborating with the Circle of Support and ETTA staff.

You will work with an honor student in a supportive environment, helping with social engagement, academics, and personal growth.

Qualifications

Experience supporting individuals with nonverbal autism.
Strong communication, patience, and empathy.
Willingness to learn AAC methods and adapt to needs.
Comfortable collaborating with a Circle of Support and care team.

Responsabilités

Listening to and honoring nonverbal, verbal, and typed communication.
Using AAC tools to support social interactions.
Creating space to include and support communication.
Provide prompts to support self-determination and goal achievement.
Support engagement with peers, friendships, and community activities.
Facilitate social outings and accompany to appointments.
Attend academic, medical, occupational, and personal events.
Collaborate with the Circle of Support to express individuality and advocacy.
Assist with activities including classes, exercises, virtual connections, and events.
Follow best practices for communication supports promoting self-advocacy.
