Job summary

BMCHS is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in AAC to provide comprehensive services for adults with complex communication needs across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes evaluating, selecting, and implementing AAC systems and SGDs, with education for patients and families.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, MA licensure, ASHA certification, CPR, and hospital-based AAC experience.

Qualifications

• Requires a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
• Requires a current license and certification as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and ASHA. ASHA membership required.
• Work requires a current CPR certification.
• AAC experience in a hospital setting beyond a clinical fellowship is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive AAC evaluations and develop patient-centered intervention plans.
• Implement and program no-tech to high-tech AAC systems and speech-generating devices (SGDs).
• Educate patients and caregivers; provide device programming, training, troubleshooting and follow-up.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team for device selection and comprehensive documentation for insurance authorization.
