Job summary

AAA Mountain West Group in Fairfield, CA is seeking tow operators to join our roadside team. You will arrive on the scene to provide safety, solutions, and peace of mind for our members, performing tow operations and basic diagnostics with a strong focus on customer service.

No prior towing experience is required as we provide paid training. Expect a flexible swing or graveyard schedule, including weekends, with opportunities for career growth and competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Operate tow trucks safely and efficiently.
• Perform simple vehicle diagnostics to identify issues.
• Provide roadside assistance (tire changes, fuel delivery, lock-outs).
• Build trust and remain calm for members on scene.
• Communicate clearly under pressure, verbally and in writing.
• Understand vehicle components and common failure modes.
• Assess safety issues and respond appropriately; adapt to conditions.
• Ability to drive manual or automatic transmission vehicles.

Schedule/Start times:

Swings: 2:30pm - 11pm (5 days 8hr shifts)
Graves: Start times could be around 6pm-10pm (4 10hr shifts) (Each shift includes Weekends) Flexibilty is a must!
Starting Pay: $25.25/hr + Lucrative Shift Differentials & Monthly Bonuses

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

• Operating tow trucks safely and efficiently.
• Performing simple vehicle diagnostics to figure out the issue.
• Providing essential roadside assistance, including tire changes, fuel delivery, and vehicle lock-outs.
• Building trust, problem-solving, and being a calming presence for our members on the scene.
• Clear and proficient verbal and written communication even under pressure.
• Common knowledge of vehicle components and the common reasons for vehicle failure.
• Demonstrates problem solving and listening skills to evaluate member safety as well as the ability to discern safety issues and respond appropriately.
• Ability to drive a manual/automatic shift vehicle.

Education & Experience/Licenses & Certification/ Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

• Works outdoors at vehicle sites when servicing vehicles. Lifting and carrying tires and parts, weighing up to 50 pounds, several times a day; bending, kneeling and stooping as required for service calls. Works in all weather and all traffic conditions. Vehicle recovery sites may be wet, messy and hazardous. Service Providers are required to provide a photograph for identification purposes.

$23.75 to $25.25 hourly pay (depending on location) with potential to make up to an additional $1,900 per month with quality and productivity incentives
