Job summary

The Gathering Spot is seeking an experienced AV technician to set up and operate media equipment for live events at our Atlanta venue. You will install projectors, microphones, video monitors, and sound boards, and manage setup and teardown to ensure flawless performances.

Work closely with event coordinators, adapt arrangements to floor plans, perform safety checks, and troubleshoot equipment during events while maintaining excellent client relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• 2-3 years of AV technician experience in a hotel or live event venue required.
• Experience setting up equipment: projectors, microphones, video monitors, sound boards.

Responsibilities

• Meet with Event Coordinators to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements.
• Arrange venue according to layout diagrams and install equipment.
• Lay electrical and sound cables and set up microphones, lights, monitors, projectors, speakers, and cameras.
• Conduct sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment.
• Inspect mountings and electrical gear for health and safety compliance.
• Operate AV equipment during live events and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth events.
• Maintain strong client relations and disassemble gear after events.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced AV technician to set up and operate media equipment for live events. As an A/V technician, you will be responsible for organizing and installing media equipment such as projectors, microphones, video monitors, and sound boards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Meeting with Event Coordinators to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements.
• Altering venue arrangements according to layout diagrams.
• Laying electrical and sound cables.
• Setting up and installing microphones, lights, video monitors, projectors, speakers, and video cameras.
• Conducting sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment.
• Inspecting mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to health and safety regulations.
• Operating sound and visual equipment during live events.
• Troubleshooting equipment and ensuring events run smoothly.
• Maintaining strong client relations skills.
• Disassembling audio and visual equipment and packing up after the event.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of sound, video, and lighting equipment, for both in-person and streaming events
• Familiarity with computers and IP Networking Systems.
• Advanced knowledge of modern filming and sound mixing techniques.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in sound engineering or a similar field strongly preferred.
• 2 - 3 years of previous experience working as an AV technician in a hotel or live event venue or similar event space required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or sound equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
