Perimeter Healthcare is seeking an Assessment & Referral Clinician to join our Springfield, MO campus. This full-time role handles high-volume inquiries, conducts intake interviews, coordinates referrals, and supports hospital programs to ensure patient safety and appropriate care levels.

Assessment & Referral Clinician

Full‑time | Psychiatry | 12 hour shift | Springfield, MO 65803

The Assessment & Referral Clinician (A&R Clinician) is responsible for managing a high volume of patient and professional inquiries, scheduling and conducting intake appointments, performing follow‑up calls, tracking assessments and admissions, updating bed and assessment boards, and using a multi‑line telephone system. Work is performed in a team setting as well as independently and is supervised by the Director of Intake.

The A&R Clinician coordinates and communicates with patients, families and referral sources daily. Strong customer service skills and effective communication are essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct intake interviews to establish and assess appropriate level of care.
• Receive incoming inquiry calls and conduct an initial intake screening to determine viability for services.
• Serve as client liaison, providing accurate interviews of patient needs and making appropriate referrals.
• Accurately assess psychosocial and emotional status using knowledge related to children, adolescents, adults and geriatric populations.
• Serve as liaison to business office and utilization review; coordinate insurance verification.
• Coordinate communications and activities between clinical staff, nursing staff, business office and business development staff.
• Monitor direct/indirect referrals; follow up with professional or agency referral sources regarding patient disposition.
• Document, collect and organize data from inquiry calls to assist with referral development.
• Apply a logical approach to solve problems and manage situations positively.
• Participate in hospital programs designed to ensure patient safety (e.g., fire drills, code 1).
• Express ideas and concerns constructively.
• Notify supervisor of essential information appropriately.
• Use proper communication channels and lines of authority.
• Provide oral and written communication that reflects clarity and accuracy.
• Maintain open communication with physicians and staff throughout the hospital to support facility goals and patient care delivery.
• Collaborate with others to accomplish overall hospital and departmental goals.
• Treat peers with respect and dignity.
• Handle patient/family complaints appropriately and according to policy.
• Assist in all areas of the department as needed.
• Accept expected and unexpected duties willingly.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Must have graduated from a Registered Nurse accredited school or hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Behavioral Health or related field.
• Experience in Behavioral Health assessment and/or treatment preferred.
• Preferred: minimum of one (1) year experience on an inpatient Behavioral Health Unit.
