Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation in Florida is seeking an A&P Mechanic IV to supervise maintenance crews and oversee major overhauls and inspections. You will ensure regulatory compliance and conduct training sessions for junior mechanics.

The role supports ISR, Aviation, and Security projects within the IAS business area, delivering safe, reliable aircraft maintenance and documentation across shifts and locations, including CONUS/OCONUS deployments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in aviation maintenance.
• Higher level degree may substitute for experience.
• Active, current FAA A&P certification with no prior FAA violations.
• Must pass written, oral and practical assessments.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations.
• Advanced experience in repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications.
• Willingness to deploy for extended periods to CONUS/OCONUS locations.
• Ability to meet DoD/Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
• Must pass pre-deployment medical assessment.
• Willing to work extended hours, holidays, and rotating shifts.
• Must travel internationally with a valid passport and visa eligibility.
• Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required day 1.

• Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification with no prior FAA violations.
• Must pass, written, oral and practical assessments.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations.
• Advanced experience in repairing, maintaining and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.
• Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
• Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
• Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
• Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
• Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.
• Must be able to work within the dynamics of a small team and operate at a high level in a fast paced environment.
• Current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.
• Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/30 rotation.
• An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required day 1 of employment

Qualifications We Prefer

• Previous experience with the Dash 8 platform
• Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance or related field.
• Leadership and management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of specific aircraft models.
• FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
• Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends.
• Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (FAR/DFARS).
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military..

Essential Functions

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
• Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
