Job summary

River Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX is seeking an A La Carte Server to deliver exceptional dining experiences across fine dining, casual and events. You will join during a major renovation as the club opens new concepts in March 2027, contributing to member satisfaction and memorable service.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in upscale dining or private club settings, hold TABC and Texas Food Handler certifications, and know POS systems.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ experience in upscale dining, private club, hospitality, restaurant, or resort service preferred.
• Current TABC and Texas Food Handler Certification.
• Extensive knowledge of food, wine, beer, spirits, and service etiquette.
• Experience using Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete all opening, running and closing duties accurately and efficiently.
• Set-up dining areas and patio according to anticipated member counts and club standards.
• Welcome, greet and seat members as needed.
• Present menus in a timely fashion and confidently communicate daily specials and featured items from the kitchen and bars.
• Make recommendations and suggest food, wine, cocktails, and specialty pairings to enhance the dining experience.
• Accurately record confirmed Member orders and input them in a timely fashion correctly into the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
• Coordinate effectively with culinary and beverage teams to ensure accurate and timely service.
• Serve the membership according to the ROCC A la Carte Steps of Service and established Club standards.
• Maintain and organize all tables and front of house areas throughout service.
• Ensure member charges are properly and accurately recorded.
• Organize and restock all service areas as per running and side duties.
• Assist with the set up and breakdown of buffets and events as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

The A La Carte Server is responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences to members and guests throughout the Club's dining venues, ranging from fine dining to casual and family-oriented environments. This role requires a passion for hospitality, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to service excellence. A thorough and continually developing knowledge of food, beverage, and club offerings is essential to providing personalized service and creating memorable experiences for the membership.

Qualifications

• Maintain a current TABC and Texas Food Handler Certification
• At least 3 years’ experience in upscale dining, private club, hospitality, restaurant, or resort service preferred
• Extensive knowledge of food, wine, beer, spirits, and service etiquette
• Experience using Point-of-Sale (POS) systems
• Professional appearance and positive attitude
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events
