Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking an underwriting professional to manage K-12, Amateur Sports, and Participant Accident programs. You will evaluate submissions from MGUs/Program Managers, set coverage levels, and collaborate with actuarial teams to approve complex opportunities.

You will also work with Legal, Product, Operations and Business Development to tailor MGUs and programs, maintain relationships, and ensure accurate policy issuance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Mathematics, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance or related field preferred.
• Requires at least two (2) years Accident & Health Underwriting experience. P&C insurance is not required but helpful.
• Requires at least two (2) years of experience working with and overseeing MGAs/MGUs or Program Managers.
• Market Segment knowledge: Amateur Sports, K-12 & College Students, and Volunteer Organizations.
• Product knowledge: Accidental Death, Accident Medical Expense, Catastrophic Medical, Disability, Participant Accident, and Out of Country Medical Insurance.
• Ability to work with large data sets to evaluate past performance and use data to determine acceptable rating metrics.

Responsibilities

• Perform underwriting roles for K-12, Amateur Sports, Participant Accident, and Outbound Student.
• Evaluate cases as received from MGUs and Program Managers.
• Review complex submissions to determine risk acceptability and coverage levels with Actuarial approval.
• Collaborate with program managers and MGUs/Program Managers to determine new business or renewal positions.
• Modify MGUs/Programs with Legal, Product, Operations and Business Development.
• Develop and maintain internal/external producer/program relationships.
• Set premium rates, issue proposals and letters of intent.
• Conduct annual portfolio reviews to set renewal positions.
• Maintain digital files per AXIS procedures.
