Job summary

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is seeking a 911 Communications Operator to answer emergency and non-emergency calls, relay critical information, and coordinate with police, fire, and medical personnel.

Position requires high school diploma, 18+ years old, and completion of the 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicator Training Program with Florida Certification within 11.5 months. Training academy includes EMD/EFD certification and CPR; shifts are 8-hour during training and 12-hour afterward.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Associate's Degree or equivalent or must pass Wonderlic Basic Skills Test.
• Complete 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicator Training Program and Florida Certification within 11.5 months; academy includes EMD/EFD certs and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency telephones and relay information accurately.
• Process wrecker requests and maintain wrecker files.
• Route calls to proper agencies and request assistance as needed.
• Operate NCIC/FCIC, PSC/CAD systems and telephone consoles.
• Notify supervisors of events and inform on-going activities.
• Disaster readiness and shift flexibility (12-hour shifts, 24/7 operations).
