Job summary

McDowell County Emergency Services is seeking a Telecommunicator to receive, prioritize, and process emergency and non-emergency communications while delivering professional customer service to the public. Training and certifications will be provided as part of a competency-based progression through Telecommunicator I, II, and III levels.

This 24/7 public safety communications role requires the ability to stay calm under pressure, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with EMS,

Qualifications

• Complete required pre-employment screenings and background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
• Providing emergency communications support for EMS, Law Enforcement, Fire/Rescue Services.
• Performing emergency and non-emergency radio communications.
• Utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and other communications technologies.
• Obtaining and communicating accurate and timely information during emergency incidents.
• Providing exceptional customer service during both routine and emergency situations.
• Participating in required training, certifications, and professional development opportunities.
• Performing public safety support functions and other duties as assigned.
