Job summary

The City of Fountain Inn is seeking a full-time Police/Fire Dispatcher to answer 911 and non‑emergency lines, enter data into the CAD system, and coordinate with responding units. You will provide lifesaving instructions and monitor alarms while maintaining accurate logs and reports.

Must have a high school diploma or GED, plus vocational training in communications and SC certifications (SCCJA Telecommunications Officer, NCIC Operator, APCO Fire Service Communications).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training in communications or related field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license and the SCCJA Basic Telecommunications Officer certification, NCIC Operator, and APCO Fire Service Communications.

Responsibilities

• Answers emergency and non-emergency calls; enters information into CAD; coordinates with supervisors on priority calls.
• Provides lifesaving and pre-arrival instructions; remains available to callers while units are en route.
• Dispatches to police, fire, and public works; coordinates multi-unit responses; maintains contact with units and relays information.
• Operates CAD/NCIC databases; retrieves information and ensures data accuracy.
• Maintains records, prepares reports, and assists in training new dispatch staff.
