Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a Dispatcher to receive reports and dispatch fire suppression personnel using CAD, two-way radio, and telephone. You will maintain records and ensure accurate location tracking of dispatched staff while coordinating communications between crews and the Dispatch Center.

The role requires a high school diploma, 35 WPM typing, basic computer skills, and an IS-700 certification within the first year. A criminal background check and drug test are required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive reports of fires, law enforcement needs, storms, and other incidents from the public, 911 systems, and safety officers; dispatch personnel via CAD, two-way radio, and telephone.
  • Maintain accurate records of all dispatched personnel and their locations.
  • Provide two-way radio contact between firefighters, field personnel, and the Dispatch Center.
  • Use CAD to process smoke management information and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Perform dispatch and related duties on daily task lists to support the agency's mission and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties in support of the Forestry Commission's mission and strategic plan.
