Job summary

City of Flagstaff is seeking a Police Emergency Communications Specialist to answer 911 calls, coordinate police, fire, and medical responses, and provide calm support during emergencies. You will work with advanced dispatch software, multi-line phones, and public safety databases to keep residents and responders safe.

The role requires strong multitasking, excellent customer service, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Two years of multitasking experience.
• Substitutions allowed per education/experience rules; age and licenses cannot be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Answer and prioritize calls including 911 and general inquiries.
• Coordinate responses with police, fire, and medical units.
• Use radios and phones to communicate clearly with field units.
• Enter data into RMS and NCIC/ACIC systems as needed.
• Review maps and CAD data to ensure accurate location information.
• Adhere to policies, protect confidentiality, and maintain professional conduct.
• May train new Emergency Communications Specialists.
