Chippewa County in Wisconsin is seeking a Telecommunicator to assist the public in dispatching Police, Fire, or Emergency Medical Services from the Emergency Communication Center.
The Center operates 24/7. Dispatchers handle a 12-channel radio system and 13 phone lines, coordinating multiple agencies and units, while working 12-hour day or night shifts, including weekends and holidays, under stressful conditions.
The job duties of the Telecommunicator include but are not limited to assist the public in dispatching Police, Fire, or Emergency Medical Services; and to provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to County residents and the general public in the Emergency Communication Center.
Chippewa County Communication Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Dispatchers work 12-hour day shifts (6:00 am – 6:00 pm) or night shifts (6:00 pm – 6:00 am) which includes weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins.
Open positions may be assigned to either shift depending on staffing needs. Shift assignments and preferences are managed through a seniority-based process. Candidates must be willing and able to work either days or nights, as well as weekends and holidays.
