Job summary

Metropolitan Emergency Services Agency (MESA) in Indianapolis is seeking a 911 dispatch operator to handle emergency and non-emergency calls for fire, EMS, and police responders. You will monitor radio channels, coordinate dispatch, and provide pre-arrival and medical instructions as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and Telecommunicator certification.
• Must pass full background investigation including psychological and physical exams.
• Eligible to attain and maintain IDACS certification.
• Must obtain EMD, APCO PST1 or department equivalent, and CPR within one year.

Responsibilities

• Processes emergency and non-emergency requests via telephone, radio, or in person.
• Remains apprised of all fire, EMS, and police officials within the 911 Center's authority.
• Enters information into CAD, VESTA, Map, EMSystem, Location, or other systems accurately.
• Acquires and maintains required certifications.
• Operates CAD, Motorola MC7500, Locution, EMSystem, VESTA and related devices.
• Coordinates with CJIS, wrecker ordering systems, and records management access.
• Maintains confidentiality at all times.
• Shift coverage 24/7 per agency needs.
