Job summary

The City of Paducah, KY is seeking a Telecommunicator to operate under supervision and manage emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch public safety units, and relay critical information during life-and-death situations.

Applicants must hold KY DOCJT Public Safety Telecommunicator certification, be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime, and pass required screenings and training; benefits include PTO, health/Dental/Vision, retirement, education assistance, and annual raises.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must hold KY DOCJT Public Safety Telecommunicator certification.
• Experience in customer service or office support with data entry.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls including enhanced 9-1-1 and TDD.
• Determine call priority and dispatch units as needed.
• Monitor radio frequencies and NCIC/CAD systems.
• Document call details and dispositions accurately.
• Provide pre-arrival instructions and coordinate with agencies.
