Position Summary

Chicod School is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered educator to join our outstanding eighth-grade team. The teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and student success.

The ideal candidate is committed to collaboration, data-driven instruction, strong relationships with students and families, and continuous professional growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction and Student Learning

• Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all learners.
• Utilize research-based instructional strategies and technology to increase student engagement and achievement.
• Analyze student data to monitor progress, provide targeted interventions, and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and assessment data.

Classroom Environment

• Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported.
• Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior while implementing school-wide PBIS expectations.
• Foster student independence, collaboration, and a love of learning.

Collaboration

• Actively participate in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) by analyzing data, planning instruction, and developing interventions and enrichment opportunities.
• Collaborate with instructional coaches, specialists, interventionists, and support staff to meet student needs.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.

Professional Responsibilities

• Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives.
