Salary is determined by the Certified Salary schedule based on education and work experience. Certified/licensed employees are granted one year of salary position for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten years, including in‑district and out‑of‑district experiences. Verification of outside experience is the responsibility of the employee.

Paid leave is covered under Article VII of the Master Contract, including sick and discretionary leave.

Job Description
Summary / Objective: Provide an enriched learning environment where students acquire subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, responsible members of society. Facilitate learning, guide students toward intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth, and support their academic and personal development. Report to the building principal and department director as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
- Ensure adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum standards, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
- Use instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and standards.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
- Diagnose learning abilities of students regularly, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom fairly and justly.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional assistants and/or volunteers, and work cooperatively with department heads.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of individuals or student groups involved.
- Strive to implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional standards and objectives.
- Respect students’ personal spaces throughout the day.
- Implement IEP plans, ensuring integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Make provision for availability to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
- Cooperate with other staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Accept a share of responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned.
- Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Report all incidents of injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority promptly.
- Model non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
- Proceed with own professional growth through ongoing reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrators in accordance with policies and practices.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students’ information.
