Greenville Technical College is seeking a Part-Time Re-Entry Workforce Instructor & Success Coach to support the Returning Citizens Program. You will teach skilled trades topics while guiding participants as they prepare to enter the workforce, serving as instructor and mentor to help participants develop technical skills, workplace competencies, and confidence.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field required.
  • Three years of experience in construction, maintenance, skilled trades, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to facilitate both classroom and hands-on instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory skilled trades coursework, including workplace safety, tool identification, basic construction techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Deliver OSHA and workplace safety training as appropriate.
  • Prepare and facilitate engaging classroom and hands-on learning activities.
  • Evaluate participant’s progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Deliver instruction in job readiness, communication, professionalism, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and workplace expectations.
  • Assist participants with resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Help participants identify career pathways within construction, manufacturing, maintenance, transportation, and other skilled trades sectors.
  • Build positive relationships with participants and serve as a trusted mentor and coach.
  • Encourage participant engagement, accountability, and persistence.
  • Support participants as they navigate barriers to employment and training.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with workforce development staff, community partners, employers, and social service organizations.
  • Assist with participant recruitment, retention, and completion efforts.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and documentation.
  • Support employment placement and follow-up activities.

In this challenging role, you will be supporting the CEED - Cont Edu and Econ Dev department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following.

Position Summary

ThePart-Time Re-Entry Workforce Instructor & Success Coach works flexiblepart-time hours and provides instruction in skilled trades-relatedtopics while supporting participants as they prepare to enter the workforce.This position works with a broad demographic of individuals, includingjustice-involved adults, and serves as both an instructor and mentor to helpparticipants develop technical skills, workplace competencies, and confidence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Workforce & Skilled Trades Instruction
  • Teach introductory skilled trades coursework, including workplace safety,tool identification, basic construction techniques, and industry bestpractices.
  • Deliver OSHA andworkplace safety training as appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree inrelated field

Minimum three (3)years of experience in construction, maintenance, skilled trades, or arelated field.

Demonstrated abilityto communicate effectively with diverse populations.

Strong interpersonal,organizational, and mentoring skills.

Ability to facilitateboth classroom and hands-on instruction.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in related field.Teaching, training, or workforce development experience.Experience working with justice-involved individuals, underserved populations, or adult learners.OSHA, NCCER or other industry-recognized credentials.Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, facilities maintenance, or related skilled trades.Knowledge of workforce readiness and career coaching practices.
