Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing seeks a reliable janitor to maintain clean and safe facilities at our Kansas City, MO plant. The role involves routine cleaning, lighting and fixture care, restroom sanitation, and landscape upkeep, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

You will follow standard work, operate ladders, and assist with routine repairs as needed. Must be able to work two shifts, including weekends, and perform duties with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of professional janitorial experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Strong standards of performance and accountability.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions.
• Willingness to work 12-hour shifts including weekends.
• Detail-oriented and reliable.
• Team player with ability to work with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard janitorial tasks to keep areas clean and organized.
• Clean and minor repair to fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
• Sanitize and stock restrooms and locker rooms.
• Dust, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty trash and maintain wastebaskets.
• Use ladders as required.
• Maintain grounds and landscape around buildings.
• Clean windows indoors and lunchroom areas.
• Other duties assigned by Management.

Who We Want:

Performs janitorial duties necessary to maintain and protect the assigned areas of responsibility. Ensures that external and internal appearance of a building is clean, organized and meets Company standards.

What You’ll Do:

• Follows standard work and daily checklists to ensure that all assigned tasks are performed to standard and meet expectations.
• Clean and make minor repair to building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
• Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms/locker rooms using established practices and procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Remove outside debris and maintain grounds as assigned.
• Maintain the landscape around the buildings and fence lines.
• Clean all windows indoors.
• Clean and sanitize lunchrooms floors, furniture, and counters.
• Other duties assigned by the Management.

When and Where:

This will be a 2 Shift / 12:00PM-8:30PM M-F position located at our Plant in Kansas City, MO

Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.

What You Need to Have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Associates Degree
• Minimum 2 years of professional janitorial experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.
• Has high standards of performance for self.
