Job summary

Fort Mill School District is seeking a Long Term Substitute Language Arts teacher for September 24 to December 18, 2026. The substitute will implement district-approved curriculum, monitor student progress, and maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment.

The role involves developing lesson plans, assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and communicating with parents and the school administration about progress and goals.

Qualifications

• SC Certification as a Middle Level Language Arts or Elementary teacher.
• Bachelor's degree in education discipline applicable to teaching.
• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers middle school Language Arts curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Teaches Language Arts curriculum as assigned to the grade level, in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual small group instruction as needed.
• Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures.
