Job summary

Beach Park Community Consolidated School District 3 is seeking a dedicated 6th-8th Grade CABS Special Education Teacher for Beach Park Middle School. You will lead a self-contained classroom focused on students with autism, implementing IEPs and ABA-informed strategies.

You will manage behavior, collaborate with families and professionals, and monitor progress with accurate records. A PEL with LBS1 and experience with autism are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
• Experience with students with autism in a self-contained classroom is preferred
• Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Understanding of IDEA, behavior intervention plans, and Illinois requirements
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to students with autism
• Provide direct instruction in academics, communication, social skills, and behavior management
• Adapt curriculum to student needs and utilize ABA, visual supports, and sensory strategies
• Create a structured, positive classroom environment and manage behaviors
• Collaborate with parents, therapists, and staff; maintain records and progress data
• Conduct ongoing assessments and adjust instruction accordingly
