Job summary

WWAY is seeking a Newsfluencer in the Cape Fear region to tell and share local stories through short videos, livestreams, interviews, and explainers across social media and WWAY platforms.

You will be the visible, curious presence in communities and events, producing content that meets newsroom standards and supports WWAY's broadcast and digital channels.

Qualifications

• Proven presentation, communication and social media content creation skills.
• Experience telling stories on social media, digital content broadcasts, radio, marketing, PR, tourism, entertainment, community organizing, or event promotion.
• Journalism experience, including writing, shooting, editing, producing web stories for a news and information organization.
• Familiarity with mobile journalism equipment and workflows such as ENPS.
• Ability to host livestreams, conduct on camera interviews, or cover and report on live events.

Responsibilities

• Discover and explain stories across southeastern North Carolina.
• Create original short form video, live streams, interviews, explainers, photos, and web content.
• Report at events and in everyday community life, on mobile platforms.
• Maintain WWAY newsroom standards and verify information before sharing.

WWAY is hiring a community connected Cape Fear Newsfluencer, a first of its kind social media content creator and influencer to discover, explain and share the stories of people across southeastern North Carolina. This is a digital-first, field-based storytelling job for someone who loves the Cape Fear. You'll be WWAY'S visible, approachable and always curious presence on social media platforms, at local events and at everyday community life. You will create original short form video, live streams, interviews, explainers, photos, web content and behind-the-scenes coverage that meets people where they are, on their phones and in their neighborhoods. It's just not an influencer job. You will work to WWAY's newsroom standards, use strong editorial judgment, verify information before sharing it, and help feed story leads to WWAY's broadcast, digital streaming and social media platforms.
