The Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and mission-aligned 5th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025–2026 school year. This is a full-time, salaried teaching position. The ideal candidate is a joyful Catholic educator with a passion for literature, writing, grammar, and cultivating confident communicators in a classroom of faith and academic rigor.

Position Overview:
As the 5th Grade ELA Teacher and Homeroom Teacher, you will serve as the primary classroom teacher for a vibrant and energetic group of 5th grade students. You will lead instruction in ELA using the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum, while nurturing the intellectual, moral, and spiritual development of your students through the daily routines of homeroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the 5th Grade Homeroom Teacher, leading morning routines, daily prayer, faith integration, and character formation

• Deliver dynamic and engaging instruction in 5th Grade English Language Arts using the CKLA curriculum

• Guide students in reading comprehension, vocabulary development, literary analysis, grammar, writing composition, and oral communication

• Maintain a joyful and structured classroom culture that fosters curiosity, respect, and personal responsibility

• Collaborate with colleagues in the Middle School and Lower School divisions to ensure curriculum alignment and student success

• Communicate consistently with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events

• Provide differentiated instruction and targeted support to meet the needs of all learners

• Participate in school-wide events, Masses, and professional development initiatives as an engaged member of the RPA faculty

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, English, or a related field

• Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience at the 4th–6th grade level

• Familiarity with or willingness to learn CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts)

• Strong classroom management and instructional skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to foster a love of reading and writing in students

• Proficiency with instructional technology, including Microsoft Office and student information systems

• Commitment to Catholic education and a passion for forming young minds and hearts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Practicing Catholic in good standing and able to teach and witness to the Catholic faith

• Experience with CKLA, structured literacy, or classical ELA frameworks

• Experience in Catholic or independent schools

Physical and Other Demands:

• Ability to actively lead instruction in a classroom setting

• Ability to supervise students outdoors, including at recess and during school events

• Able to lift up to 20 pounds and support classroom and student needs throughout the day

• Maintain professionalism, composure, and effective communication in a fast-paced school environment
