Job summary

Katy ISD YOUNGBLOOD ELEMENTARY in Katy, TX is seeking a 5th Grade ELAR/SS teacher with ESL certification preferred. Immediate start with 187 duty days and a pay grade based on experience.

Must hold a valid Texas teaching certificate and endorsements for subject and level assigned, with ESL certification required for K-5 RLA or related classrooms. This role emphasizes instruction, behavior management, and collaborative planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
• ESL certification required for K-5 RLA or self contained special education or general education classroom assignments.
• ESL certification preferred for Math, Science, Social Studies teaching assignments.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Student teaching or approved internship.
• Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and to meet other student needs as required.
• Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and facilitate small and large group instruction.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lessons that fulfill district curriculum requirements and reflect prepared activities.
• Prepare lessons with accommodations and differentiation for diverse learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and district policies.
• Collaborate with staff for planning and implementing instructional goals and best practices.
• Design learning experiences using digital tools to promote student learning and creativity.
• Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Plan and use strategies and assessments reflecting accommodations for individual needs.
• Work with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs.
• Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
• Monitor student achievement through formal and informal assessments and adjust instruction.
• Sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned.
