Job description

Summary

The Floating Radiologic Technologist (X-ray Tech) is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. This role offers an opportunity for an x-ray tech to apply skills in a pediatric urgent care setting and assist with primary patient care based on individual needs within their scope of practice under physician supervision. The position involves maintaining effective relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors.

Description

Mileage reimbursement is offered based on the New York State Travel Mileage Rates.

  1. Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
  2. Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, and intake information.
  3. Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take x-rays following established safety and care procedures.
  4. Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
  5. Ensure all equipment is in good condition and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  6. Maintain and document daily quality control of radiology equipment at the start of each shift.
  7. Document repeat exposures and parent holding logs with pocket dosimeter readings.
  8. Assist in the radiology quality assurance program.
  9. Report equipment malfunctions immediately to management.
  10. Assist distressed patients by promptly notifying medical staff of emergencies.
  11. Collect throat and nasal specimens and process samples for testing.
  12. Assist in processing laboratory tests and routine QA testing of patient samples.
  13. Apply splints, ace wraps, and DME devices on patients.
  14. Provide patients with crutches and education on their proper use.
  15. Be an active part of the patient care team.
  16. Keep exam and x-ray rooms stocked with supplies.
  17. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  18. Follow policies and procedures, reporting needed changes to management.
  19. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to standards and procedures.
  20. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  21. Enhance healthcare practice reputation by ownership and exploring opportunities to add value.
  22. Assist patients with complaints and participate in service recovery when necessary.
  23. Travel to 2-3 locations as assigned to provide x-ray services.
Qualifications
  • Graduated from a Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Knowledge of medical practice, terminology, and clinic procedures.
  • Ability to act calmly in emergencies using sound judgment.
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of digital imaging and electronic health records (experience with eCW preferred).
Compensation

$55 - $65/hour. The listed range complies with local regulations and reflects potential base salaries. Actual compensation varies based on experience and location. We consider individual qualifications when determining pay.
