Summary

The Floating Radiologic Technologist (X-ray Tech) is responsible for all departmental functions aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of PM Pediatrics. This role offers an opportunity for an x-ray tech to apply their skills in a pediatric urgent care setting and assist with primary patient care based on individual patient needs within their scope of practice under the physician’s direct supervision. The technologist maintains effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors.

Description

Mileage reimbursement is offered based on the New York State Travel Mileage Rates.

1. Provide clinical and administrative support for providers, patients, and office operations.
2. Obtain medical history, patient vital signs, and intake information.
3. Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take x-rays following established safety and patient care protocols.
4. Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
5. Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and complies with applicable laws and regulations.
6. Maintain and document daily quality control of radiology equipment at the start of each shift.
7. Document repeat exposures and parent holding logs with pocket dosimeter readings.
8. Assist in radiology quality assurance programs for radiography equipment.
9. Report any equipment malfunctions immediately to management.
10. Help patients in distress by promptly notifying medical staff of emergencies.
11. Collect throat and nasal specimens and process samples for testing.
12. Assist in processing laboratory tests of patient samples and routine QA testing.
13. Apply splints, ace wraps, and DME devices on patients.
14. Provide patients with crutches and education on their proper use.
15. Be an integral part of the patient care team.
16. Keep exam and x-ray rooms stocked with supplies.
17. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
18. Follow policies and procedures to maintain operations, reporting needed changes to management.
19. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to standards and procedures.
20. Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
21. Enhance the healthcare practice’s reputation by taking ownership of new challenges and exploring opportunities to add value.
22. Assist patients with complaints and participate in service recovery when needed.
23. This position is scheduled at a centralized location but requires travel to 2-3 other locations as assigned to provide x-ray services.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a Radiologic Technologist program.
• Knowledge of medical practice, terminology, and clinic procedures.
• Ability to use sound judgment and remain calm in emergencies.
• Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of digital imaging and electronic health records (eCW preferred).

Compensation

$55 - $65/hour

The listed salary/rate range complies with local regulations and reflects potential base pay, which may vary based on experience and location. Compensation is considered on an individual basis.
