Job summary

Hartford Public Schools is seeking a 504 Compliance Specialist in the Office of Student Support Services—Central Office, to lead compliance efforts under Section 504 and coordinate related services for students with qualifying impairments.

Under the Executive Director of Student Support Services, you will help schools implement 504 processes, facilitate training for coordinators, and maintain data across systems to ensure accurate, timely protections and accommodations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, health, or related field with at least 3 years of experience; or 12 years of 504 compliance experience.
• Knowledge of Section 504 and related legislation, assessment procedures, and accommodations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and community groups.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building capacity of school teams for 504 meetings.
• Facilitate ongoing professional learning for school-based 504 coordinators.
• Collect, manage, and maintain data for students with 504 plans across various systems.
• Serves as a resource and provides support to schools in use of 504 Direct.
• Help build capacity to address identification, evaluation, and accommodation needs for 504 protections.
• Collaborate with Health Services, Student Support Services, and Special Education to address 504 needs.
• Liaise with charter and choice schools for 504 protections.
• Facilitate 504 meetings for Hartford students in and out of district magnet schools.
• Support development of district-wide consistency and standardization of 504 services.
