.5 Elementary School Art Teacher

AS A VIRTUAL TEACHER you will:

  1. Teach synchronous coursework at the elementary school level under the direction of the Principal.
  2. Lead students through successful synchronous course completion.
  3. Foster a virtual environment conducive to learning.
  4. Prioritize student needs so that each child may reach their fullest potential.
  5. Partner with parents and colleagues to manage course goals, curriculum, and materials that best benefit the individual needs of each student.
  6. Engage and nurture student learning and student relationships.
  7. Teach engaging live and asynchronous lessons over a virtual platform.
  8. Promote creativity and excitement in the virtual learning environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. Appropriate MA state teaching licensure
  3. Proficient in Microsoft and Google Docs
  4. Strong written/verbal communication skills
  5. Although mainly a virtual position, at times it is required to travel within and between assigned geographic areas to support students with MCAS testing, attend regularly scheduled meetings, and participate in school activities.
  6. An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g. learning management systems, web-based instructional tools)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. DESE SEI Endorsement
  2. Teaching (may include student teaching) experience preferred.
  3. Experience working with the proposed age group.
  4. Experience supporting adults and students in the use of technology.
  5. An aptitude for instructional technology

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan, prepare and create instructional activities.
  2. Conduct personalized support/tutorial services for students.
  3. Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  4. Personalize instruction based on student learning needs.
  5. Participate in ongoing training sessions.
  6. Follow and create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
  7. Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  8. Develop incentives to engage participants in class.
  9. Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
  10. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  11. Follow the DESE State Teacher Evaluation System.
