Job summary

NC State University’s New Hanover County Extension Center in Wilmington, NC is seeking an Extension Program Assistant to support 4-H youth development and Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) programming. This full-time, 12-month role delivers, coordinates, and administers positive youth development and health education programs for local communities.

The position emphasizes school enrichment, 4-H clubs, summer camps, and outreach, with data entry into ERS and active public engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational requirement is a high-school diploma or equivalent; advanced training in related fields is preferred.
• Experience in classroom, camp, or informal education settings is desirable.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint; strong time and resource management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead coordination and delivery of 4-H school enrichment programs, including Embryology training and logistics.
• Provide administrative and programming support for 4-H clubs, including volunteer management and enrollment tracking.
• Assist with planning and delivery of 4-H summer camps and workshops at various locations.
• Collaborate with FCS to deliver youth health, nutrition, and physical activity education.
• Maintain enrollment, volunteer hours, and program data in ERS; draft newsletters and marketing materials.
• Provide professional customer service to parents, educators, and the public.
