Job summary

Virginia Tech seeks a 4-H Youth Development Agent to lead the York County Unit Office and manage daily operations of the local 4-H program. You will develop research-based educational experiences for youth, recruit and train volunteers, and build coalitions with community partners.

The role requires a BA/BS in a relevant discipline, with a master’s degree expected by year six. Some travel is anticipated to provide in-person leadership and outreach across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; master’s degree required no later than sixth year of employment.
• Knowledge of planning, conducting, and evaluating Extension or non-formal education programs; ability to assess urban community needs.
• Willingness to travel for in-person leadership and to build community partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and prioritize needs for development of objective, research-based educational programs.
• Lead 4-H Youth Development programs and coordinate day-to-day operations.
• Recruit, train, support, and manage volunteers to implement programming.
