Position Summary

The Program Coordinator at Rock Eagle 4-H Center is responsible for the coordination of the 4-H Environmental Education program at the 4-H Center. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and supervision of staff, developing curriculum and teaching resources, maintenance of teaching facilities, and promotion and coordination of daily activities of the 4-H Environmental Education program.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Extensive knowledge of Educational and Biological Sciences. Supervise and evaluate a staff of 5 full-time employees and up to 20 seasonal part-time employees. Effective in written and oral communications. Willing to work frequent nights and weekends. Ability to develop web-based, printed, and other media presentations to promote the 4-H Environmental Education program.

Physical Demands

Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Walk 3 to 5 miles a day while carrying out duties, often in the rain. Work frequent nights and weekends in supervision responsibilities in the 4-H Environmental Education Program.

Duties/Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for the development of curriculum and class offerings for the Rock Eagle 4-H Environmental Education Program. Coordinates field study trips for over 15,000 students attending the program.
  2. Hiring, training, and supervision of full-time and part-time seasonal staff who serve as instructors.
  3. Maintenance of laboratories and teaching resources at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
  4. Develops promotional materials to maintain and increase student enrollment.
  5. Directs the community and day use, Discovery, and Outreach programs.
  6. Works with other Rock Eagle Department Heads to assist Environmental Education staff.
