Job summary

Cornell University through the Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County is seeking a 4-H Afterschool Student Aide Educator to support the 4-H Afterschool Program for students in grades K–12. The educator will work in up to two Watertown City School District programs, with placement based on student need.

The role is part-time, non-exempt, 20 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $20. Eligibility for comprehensive benefits including health and dental insurance, retirement,

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma plus one year of transferable program or functional experience).
• Valid NewYork State driver’s license.
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.
• Compliance with SACC and OCFS licensing requirements, including TB test, physical exam, and training.

Responsibilities

• Program Delivery, Evaluation and Applied Research (80%): Provide educational program as defined in the grant application, including implementation or modification of established 4‑H Youth Development programming.
• Support designated students in meeting grant-identified strategies, including referrals to community services.
• Utilize diverse delivery methods (phone calls, workshops, family engagement, literacy events) to aid student skill and knowledge development.
• Assist with program delivery, resource identification, and collaboration with school district staff.
• Represent the program on relevant teams, such as the 4‑H Afterschool Advisory Committee.
