Job summary

JBS USA in Omaha is seeking a 3rd Shift Yards Supervisor to oversee live stock handling on the Yards shift and ensure compliance with USDA inspections and company SOPs. You will lead a team, maintain training, and support humane handling practices.

The role requires experience in beef slaughter operations, strong leadership, and excellent communication. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday evenings with potential weekend shifts, and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• 1–2 years of livestock handling experience.
• Beef slaughter operations experience: 3–5 years.
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with USDA personnel during ante-mortem inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Become certified to stun animals in the pen area and trucks.
• Ensure all 3rd Shift employees are properly trained, certified, and follow JBS policies and procedures, and adhere to animal handling SOPs including pen cleaning, livestock unloading, and humane stunning practices.
• Verify that all stunners and ammunition are stored properly and the correct PMs have occurred on the stun guns.
• Perform daily safety walks, correcting any non-compliance issues.
• Document all issues and verify repairs.
• Keep track of employee hours, schedules, and duties.
• Other duties needed or assigned.

Reporting to: Harvest Floor General Foreman

Essential Job Functions

• Work closely with USDA personnel during ante-mortem inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Become certified to stun animals in the pen area and trucks.
• Ensure all 3rd Shift employees are properly trained, certified, and consistently follow JBS policies and procedures, and following all animal handling SOPs including pen cleaning, livestock unloading, and humane stunning practices.
• Verification that all stunners and ammunition stored properly and the correct PM’s have occurred on the stun guns.
• Perform daily safety walks, correcting any non-compliance issues.
• Documentation of all issues and verification of repair/fixes.
• Keep track of employee hours, schedules, and duties
• Any other duties needed or assigned.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience handling live stock
• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required
• 3-5 years of experience working in beef slaughter operations
