Job summary

JBS USA is seeking a Production Supervisor in Ottumwa to lead the Harvest 2nd shift. The role focuses on meeting production goals, supervising staff, and ensuring safety, hygiene, and policy compliance across the plant.

The supervisor will coordinate with the Union, USDA inspectors, and maintenance teams to maximize yields and reduce costs while preserving high quality standards. Qualified candidates will have 1–2 years of supervisory experience in beef or pork operations or related fields, with

DEPARTMENT: Harvest 2nd

LOCATION: Ottumwa

SALARY CLASS: Exempt

Principle Responsibilities

• Meet and exceed production goals set forth by plant management
• Supervise production employees
• Monitor and ensure proper procedures, safety, and cleanliness of production employees
• Ensure policy compliance with all production employees
• Perform various duties as assigned
• Responsible for meeting volume goals, reducing claims, maximizing yields, reducing cost, employee retention and maintain good working relationships with the Union, USDA (meat), and maintenance employees
• Ensure compliance with food safety, and all human resources and safety policies

Working Conditions

• Production and maintenance settings
• Exposure to various chemicals, machinery, and knives
• Slippery floors, Hot temperatures, and loud ambient noise

Education

• High School degree or equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field preferred

Experience: 1-2 years proven supervisory experience in the Beef or Pork Industry Preferred

Comments: The schedule for this position is typicallyMon - Fri. Weekend work required as scheduled. During Fall Season, Saturdays are typically scheduled.
