Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily store operations across various departments.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to all team members.
- Implement strategies to improve customer service, increase store sales, and ensure customer needs are met efficiently.
- Maintain store appearance, focusing on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.
- Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
- Handle staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
- Promote succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs.
- Manage disciplinary actions and make recommendations regarding employment status.
- Oversee profit and loss, achieve sales targets, and maintain departmental shrinkage.
- Model exceptional customer service and promote the Meijer Friendly Initiative.
- Mentor and coach team members to meet sales and service goals.
- Ensure team training is complete and effective.
- Spend time within the store communicating with customers and team members.
- Promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of related retail experience.
- One year of management experience.
- Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, customer service, and product flow is helpful.
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide precise directions.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Analytical skills to interpret financial and statistical data and teach suggestive selling.
- Commitment to practicing safe working habits.
- Mentoring skills across all organizational levels.
- Completion of all required certifications.
