Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is hiring a Plant Technician for the 3rd shift (11PM–7:30AM EST) at the Orrville, OH site. You will safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high speed packaging lines, analyze data, and support continuous improvement.

The right candidate has a HS diploma or GED, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work a 7-day schedule with overtime as needed. Training rate starts at $26.00/hr, rising to $33.64/hr after probation and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Previous work in a food manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
• Able to work an 8-hour shift on a 7-day schedule per week.
• Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds and perform sanitation duties.
• Able to read, comprehend, interpret, and apply information from manuals and SOPs.
• Qualified candidates will be required to pass an applied math and a technical aptitude test.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high speed packaging and processing equipment.
• Meet safety expectations and wear required PPE.
• Work in a team environment and assist others.
• Collect and analyze data using applied math skills.
• Input and access data on a computer.
• Perform basic and routine maintenance activities.
• Work outside normal hours and overtime as needed for maintenance.
• Use basic hand and power tools to service equipment.
• Operate tow motor and adhere to training requirements.
• Perform other duties within skill capability.
