Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is seeking a Smucker Fruit Spreads Plant Technician on the 3rd shift (11 PM–7:30 AM EST) in Orrville, OH.

The role focuses on operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-speed packaging and processing equipment to produce Smucker products. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, pass applied math and a technical aptitude test, and work a rotating 7-day schedule with OT as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 with a high school diploma or GED.
• Previous work in food manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Good attendance record and ability to follow attendance policy.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Able to work an 8-hour shift on a 7-day schedule.
• Able to work with cleaning chemicals and perform sanitation duties.
• Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Self-directed, team-oriented problem solving.
• Able to read, comprehend, interpret and apply information from documents.
• Qualified candidates will pass an applied math and a technical aptitude test.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
• Meet safety expectations and use required PPE.
• Work in a team and assist others as needed.
• Collect and analyze data using applied math.
• Input and access data on a computer.
• Perform basic and routine maintenance activities.
• Work OT and outside normal hours for required maintenance.
• Use basic hand and power tools.
• Operate tow motor and maintain training requirements.
• Perform other duties within the skill set.
